7/14/2016. During the spring and summer of 2016 the WTA led an international steering committee with representatives from Cisco, Deloitte, DFID, Pearson, Technobrain and World Vision to host Tanzania’s first “Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship Summit” in Dar es Salaam. Its mission was to bring government, private sector and NGO leaders together to address the most difficult issues impeding youth employment and entrepreneurship in East Africa. The Summit was held on July 15th and speakers included Tanzania’s, Deputy Minister of Labor, Ministry of Education Officials, World Vision Tanzania’s National Director and Board Chair, DFID Chief of Party David McGinty, WTA President Lou August and more. The event was a resounding success and participants from dozens of major organizations left with a clear roadmap for engagement and follow-up over the next year.
