Sept 16, 2016. In the Summer of 2016, the WTA hosted Misana Manyama, a Presidential Fellow who is part of the President Obama’s Young African Leader Initiative (YALI). Though there were 1000 Fellows in all, only a handful of sites were selected nationwide to host 100 Fellows in 6-week fellowships during the summer of 2016 — and the WTA was honored to host Misana at its WildTech/CCNV office in Downtown Washington DC.
Misana is a young successful attorney from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, who is passionate about youth entrepreneurship and creating opportunities through technology. During his fellowship, Misana worked on a number of WTA initiatives, from refurbishing computers and placing them into needy Washington DC area schools, to hosting the Minister of Education from the Congo in DC — and even drafting national computer-reuse and import legislation for the Kenya Parliament. Misana was a huge addition to the WTA staff and sends a HUGE THANK YOU to James and Wyatt at IREX, the entire YALI Program team, and most of all, Misana!
