Populus Deltoides Cottonwoods belong to the willow family, Salicaceae. It's Scientific name is Populus Deltoides. The black cottonwood is Populus Trichocarpa.

The eastern cottonwood grows throughout the eastern regions of the United States. Black cottonwood, the tallest western broadleaf tree, grows along the Pacific Coast. Several other types of cottonwoods are used as windbreakers or ornamental trees, but they are not a commercial important.
