Day One:July 29

After a late night packing for the WTA trip I woke up with only four hours of sleep. Even after the short amount of sleep I realized that I was running late to meet my teacher Marc. So I rushed to ready myself for the two hour drive to Port Angeles. I meet Marc and the other student from my school John and began our adventure.

This picture was taken before our group embarked on our adventure. And it shows just how big the backpack was that we had to carry.

An hour or two into our hike we came upon beautiful Madrone (tree) The contrast between the leaves and the bark of the tree had to have been one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

A little bit after we came upon the Madrone Tree we stoped for a rest at a cabin built around 90 year ago. At this cabin I stumbled onto a spider that had just caught a fly in it's web.

Right before dinner a deer and two baby deers were feeding in the meadow around our campsite and John and I got to get a huge amount of pictures of them.

That night was one of the best nights I had over the duration of the trip. The dinner was wonderful because we had something I would have never expected to have on a backpacking trip spagetti. And after dinner John, Dave (our guide) and I a wonderful talk that changed me forever.

Day Two : July 30

When John and I woke up in the morning we find that the deer were still in the meadow. All within a few minutes we made breakfast, got part and began a new day on the trails.

Once again a few hours into our hike we found something I liked. In the next camp along the trail there was a river with a large patch of Salmon Berries along it's banks, and even though we weren't stoping for camp yet that day I still stoped to feast on the berries.

The next endevor of the day was difficulty hill a hill named because of how hard it was ot hike up. Not only was it very very steep it was two miles long. But we slowly made our way up with a few breaks to rest. The pay off was the fine down slop at the top of difficulty hill.

Nearing the end of the day we reached our second camp site. This camp was right on the water, and on the other side was the beautiful hills of the Elwha valley.

That night we had a group activity and went to bed because we were so tired.

Day Three : July 31

Lucky day three was planed as a day hike without our huge packs. So after breakfast we grabbed only what we needed and set out to for a eight mile round trip hike.

The first place we stoped on our day hike was on a rock bed right next to the Elwha River. One of the things we did there was try to balance the oddest shaped rock we could find.

After the group left the rock bed we were walking on the trail and came upon a plant that have no color because it dosen't use photosynthesis to make it's food, and it's name is Indians Pipe.

At the end of our hike we ended up at Elk Horn whict recived it's name because of the two Elk Horns fastened to the tree.

After we were done at Elk Horn we hiked the four miles back to camp ate dinner and began our group activity. That night our group activity was really fun we all spilt into groups and made skits to act out infront of the other students.

Day Four : August 1

The next morning we all woke up ate breakfast, packed up our gear and hit the road on the journey home.

After the long hike down difficulty hill we stayed the night in Lillian Camp. And directly in the middle of the camp there was a huge tree that was barked by the Indians to weave baskets.

That night we just hung out most of the night except for a short session of planing our web site.

Day Five : August 2

Day five was kind of a race to the finsh because when we woke up we packed as fast as we could and steadily made our way out of the forest.
