International Programs

WildTech was founded in 1995 based on the principle that combining outdoor adventure leadership (the “Wild” in WildTech) with project-based learning in technology (the “Tech” in WildTech) is a powerful combination, transforming the lives of both the service providers and recipients (see our history).  WildTech is now partnering with ministries of education and local NGOs in Africa to lead transformational education technology programs that improve education and economic opportunities in impoverished rural areas and entire nations – and we want you to be part of it!

How did this all evolve?

From 1995 to 2009, WildTech hosted cutting edge adventure-based education technology programs serving impoverished schools in the United States, earning some of our Nation’s highest awards for education excellence. Executive Director Lou August then went on to lead technology for development (ICT4D) globally for Save the Children and World Vision for nearly a decade, including education technology programs in Africa, Asia and South America.  WildTech Board Member Damilola Kehinde was born in Nigeria and has years of experience designing and leading education technology programs in Africa, including as the top trainer for Cisco Academy in Africa. So we have lots of experience.

What we are doing now:

Starting in 2023, WildTech began a multi-year engagement with the Government of Tanzania, which now includes World Vision Tanzania as a primary partner.  From 2025 to 2030, together we will be providing computers, educational content, and teacher training to 52 primary and secondary schools, building a national model for the use of technology to improve education and livelihoods – and we need your help!

How you can get involved:

  • If you are a technology or education professional with a flexible and adventurous spirit, please consider joining us.

  • If you are an individual, corporation, or foundation seeking a compelling and cost-effective way to engage your employees and/or improve lives in Africa, we want to talk to you.

  • If you are an education or government leader from a low-resource nation, partner with us and gain from our 30 years of cutting-edge education technology experience in low-resource settings in North America, South America, Asia and Africa.

The Cycle of Transformation

Beyond Computers:

The WildTech Difference

Most organizations drop off computers and walk away.

WildTech transforms entire communities.

Our Cycle of Transformation doesn't start with technology—it begins with understanding. We spend time alongside families in rural Tanzania, picking bananas and coffee, learning their real challenges before designing solutions.

Then we build more than computer labs. We create complete ecosystems:

    • 20 laptops + offline educational servers + offline digital educational content

    • 4-day intensive teacher training that transforms educators into digital champions

    • Advanced Cisco certification programs that create direct pathways to employment

    • Community technology centers run by local graduates, ensuring lasting impact

Our Goal? Over 25,000 students are empowered annually across 50 schools, not just with computer skills, but with confidence, opportunity, and hope.

While others provide equipment, WildTech provides transformation. Our 5-phase model ensures that every computer lab becomes a catalyst for generational change, owned and sustained by the communities we serve.

This isn't charity. It's a partnership. It's not temporary. It's permanent.

Experience the difference of deep community engagement, comprehensive training, and sustainable impact. Experience the Cycle of Transformation.
